The History of Schmelzer
 
In 1913 Ambros Schmelzer laid the foundation stone for today´s
owner-managed group of companies in the North-Bavarian town of Waldershof.
Continual development over successive generations, together with
decades of experience, have made us into a competent and powerful
enterprise with craftsmanship know-how and strong traditional ties in
the region.
Over the years, we have been able to continually strengthen and
expand our field of activity. The Schmelzer Group can offer you
customized solutions in the piping and plant construction sector,
agricultural technology, metal-roofing, flat-roof insulation and
moulding technology.

Ambros Schmelzer sets up a small craft business in the basement of a private home

1927
|
Moves to his own tinsmith workshop

1951
|
Establishes an additional business sector: the first production series of piping for agricultural purposes

1958
|
Alfred Schmelzer, the son of the company founder, takes over as managing director
|
1962
|
Construction of production facilities on current premises in Waldershof
|
1967
|
Further production and storage halls added to accommodate the increasing demand for Schmelzer pipin
|
1968
|
First exports to European neighbours. Thanks to reliable and prompt
delivery, international connections can be consolidated and enhanced

1977
|
Expands existing production and warehouse facilities in Waldershof
|
1981
|
Founding of new business sector “Tools and Mould Construction”

1987
|
New production hall for Schmelzer Formentechnik GmbH & Co KG is ready for production. Skilled workers manfacture technical injection moulds, punching and bending tools, as well as follow-on composite tools using the very latest machines

1992
|
Close proximity to the Czech Republic is used to establish first foreign-based production site in Chodova Plana

2002
|
Chodova Plana now has a total of 4500 m2 indoor space and an outdoor area of 6500 m2 for production

Launching of “beaujardin en metal” garden accessories line

Additional production and assembly hall erected in Waldershof with an area of 1100 m2

Sales office in Romania is opened, close to Brasov

Cooperation with assembly company in Slovenia. Schmelzer + Pisek assemble piping systems and plants throughout Europe. Schmelzer´s range of products is completed. Planning, production and assembly all from a single source |
